  2.     ABC for the Atari ST

  5. There are four files supplied: abc.tos, the program itself,
  6. abc.msg, the error message file, abc.hlp the help file, and
  7. abckeys.tos, the program to redefine the keybindings for the ABC
  8. editor.

  10. If you start ABC up from the desktop, the messages file must be either in the
  11. same directory as the abc.tos file, or in the workspaces directory abc.
  12. If you start ABC up from a shell, the messages file must be in the
  13. current directory, or in the abc directory.

  15. If you start ABC up from the desktop, and you want to use the options
  16. given above, like -w, you should rename abc.tos to abc.ttp.

  18. There is an additional facility for redirecting input and output:
  19. the parameter >outfile redirects all output from ABC to the file
  20. called outfile, and similarly <infile takes its input from the
  21. file called infile.

  23. Unfortunately, there is a bug in earlier versions of the Atari
  24. desktop: all lower-case letters passed as parameters are converted to
  25. upper-case. This means that you would not be able to use any of the
  26. lower-case letter options -w -r -i -o -l.

  28. For this reason, the Atari ST version also accepts the options -I -O
  29. -L, as equivalent to the lower-case versions.

  31. Unfortunately, -W and -R are already in use, and so to get the effect
  32. of -w and -r, you should use -X and -S (the next letters in the
  33. alphabet after W and R).

  35. This restriction only applies if you start ABC up from the desktop.
  36. Starting it from a shell, you can use lower-case letters as usual.
